Catellani & Smith's Alchemie, designed by Giulia Archimede, is a floor lamp built around the image of an eclipse. An internally lit alabaster disk remains stationary, while a second disk of Medea limestone, moved along a track in the base, gradually obscures it, revealing and concealing the light like the shadow of the moon.

The juxtaposition of two stones – translucent alabaster and matte Medea limestone – gives the lamp the character of a sculptural object. The finish combines brass with alabaster. The lamp is made to order, with the possibility of individual customization.
